(TIMES STAFF) After a fierce battle in the town of
On the night before the April Forum, the Liche Erishkigal, member of the Gauntlet, cast a Circle of Power outside the Three Brothers Tavern, and began to torture a citizen of Hedgewood named Fendrake. Many of the adventurers of Lindall were inside the tavern at the time, and came pouring out to see, and perhaps stop, what was happening.
After taunting the adventurers for a time, Erishkigal cut Fendrake’s throat, raised him as an undead, and then spirit recalled away. At that point a large force of her minions appeared and attacked the adventurers. After a short battle, Erishkigal’s minions were destroyed.
Sometime after this, the adventurers of Lindall somehow procured Erishkigal’s spirit bottle by unknown means. Subsequently they successfully cast a Destroy Magic ritual upon it. This would result in the Liche possibly being destroyed should the adventurers succeed in bringing her down.
The acquisition of the Liche’s bottle and its subsequent destruction was bound to bring a strong and violent response from the Gauntlet. And so it did, for on Sunday morning, the Gauntlet arrived in full force. Under the command of Squires Aara, Gormegil, and Rhys, the adventurers of Lindall abandoned the town proper and made their stand upon a ridge crest just outside of town.
The Crimson Fist, accompanied by the majority of the Gauntlet, including the Liche Erishkigal, the troll Massacre, the yellow reptiloid creature Tempest, and the vampire Drake arrived in town to see the adventurers taking up their position. The Fist left Massacre in town with a small force, while the rest of the Kurzinnor advanced on the adventurer’s position.
The adventurer’s found themselves in a very difficult position, and Scribe Riddick fell in battle, as did Squire Rhys. Scribe Riddick subsequently resurrected successfully in the Lindall Order of Light.
The adventurers were forced to retreat down the steep reverse slope of the ridge upon which they made their stand, and eventually the Fist gave up the pursuit.
The adventurers regrouped and made new plans, hoping to somehow separate the members of the Gauntlet and then take them down one by one. With Lindall itself in the hands of the Gauntlet, this appeared to be a daunting proposition.
Returning to the town by an alternate route, the adventurers were seen by the Fist and his minions and they took shelter in the manor house, which was Warded.
Apparently the Fist had sent out many of his minions on patrols to look for the adventurers, and was left with precious few bodyguards—indeed Drake himself had apparently left town. Still, nearly all the adventurers were trapped inside the manor house, while the Fist, Massacre, Tempest, Erishkigal, and several minions lay outside, waiting for them to make a break for freedom.
The Fist proceeded to destroy the Ward, which was immediately replaced and destroyed again. Without any Wards left to cast, the adventurers had no recourse but to burst out and fight.
The adventurers came charging out both the front and rear doors of the manor house, and succeeded in their primary goal, which was to separate the members of the Gauntlet. Quickly, most of the minions were destroyed, and all that remained were the Gauntlet members themselves.
Massacre was brought down and killed, but the Fist himself rescued him by giving him a Life spell. Massacre then left the field. Erishkigal was brought down, revived, and brought down again, this time permanently. Eventually the only ones left were Tempest and the Fist himself, and both of them were chased back into town and killed.
Tempest dissipated and did not reform, so he likely resurrected successfully. The Fist exploded in a ball of flame that engulfed all those around him, and vanished. It is unknown whether or not he is permanently dead.
Squire Rhys was rescued—apparently he was Lifed by the Gauntlet for questioning and abandoned in town when the adventurers returned to the fight. With only one resurrection, the defeat of the Gauntlet came at a surprisingly low cost—a testament to skill and courage of the adventurers of Lindall.
It is clear that the Fist made a
mistake in thinking that the adventurers’ retreat represented their defeat, and
it is unlikely that the Fist—or his successor—will forget this mistake in the
future. We at the Lindall Times praise the adventurers of Lindall for their victory,
and believe that they will be up to any challenge that the Gauntlet may bring
in the future.

Yes, I said beware. Keep a close eye on them, especially
during the full moon. They just might change on you. And if that happens, you
better run!
The werewolf attacks that began during the Warrior’s
Vigil last year have not
stopped. While the brave townsfolk of Lindall defeated the Alpha male of the
traveling circus, apparently that was not the only pack of werewolves in the
area.
Howling noises echoed throughout the sleeping town
late
Saturday night, into early Sunday morning. As they howling
progressed several townsfolk heard a group of adventurers coming back into town
from a mission. The returning adventurers were surrounded by werewolves
and cried out for help. The townsfolk who were awake rushed out of their cabins
to help them. While these townsfolk
succeeded in defeating this small group of werewolves, they were not entirely
successful. The Alpha male was not defeated and
several more
townsfolk were infected with this horrible affliction.
All of the nobility in town were made aware of the
infected
people and protections have been put in place
to
ensure the safety of the people of Lindall. If you are interested to find out
specifics regarding the infected individuals, please see any one of your three
squires.
It is important to note that the general adventuring
population has
been sharing information in regards to
the
strengths and vulnerabilities of the various infected individuals.
Unfortunately, there seems to be no rhyme or reason
to when
the individuals turn. The only definite way we have seen them turn is when they
hear the howling of other werewolves.
Other important things to note are: When in werewolf
form, your
friends will be significantly stronger than usual. No spell caster has been
seen casting spells while in werewolf form. They seem somewhat resistant to
magic and much more agile than normal. Your friends will return to normal if
they are struck down using weapons or spells. They do NOT need to be killed,
just struck down.
Those who have been infected should be contained
within a
warded or wizard locked area that they are not invested in during the night.
If we all read and understand this basic information,
we
should be safe.
The adventurers of Lindall and your Nobility are
working
together to quickly find a cure to this affliction. Please give any information
you have to the squires, to a representative of the Order of Light or to a
representative of the Arcanum.

While townsfolk of Lindall know better, recently it
seems that
the town has gained a reputation as a hot vacation spot amongst traveling
nobles. Sir Jonathan, Regent Du’Gaul, Lord Find’rth, Lady Azreal and most
recently Lord Xander of Home have all traveled
through Lindall. Many commoners from Chiram’s Hollow,
Ashbury, and Moria have
been passing through as well.
Visitors from Ashbury were
expecting a quiet and restful vacation away from the business of the city that
offers a bit of culture and refinement not found in frontier towns. Visitors
from Chiram’s Hollow were expecting evenings of fun
and singing around a blazing firepit.
Unfortunately these vacationers have been disappointed,
most recently they have found themselves forced to deal with inexplicable
illnesses from the plague, Kurzinnor battles, vampiric
betrayers, mysterious shadow creatures and a unique special task force that
works with the Kurzinnor army. While this was not quite
the vacation that these people were expecting, the visitors definitely had the
most unique vacation in their history. Townsfolk in Lindall can only hope that with their recent success in the
battle with the Crimson Fist that town will soon return to normal. Hopefully
this will bring in
more tourism.

Mage Figment of the Azure
F.O.G, Poalo Oscarot of the
Phalanx, and Elry of the Twisted Thistle, showed that they are not
always as quiet as they seem. They, along with the squires, The Rangers, Theodin of The Watch, High Mages Varen and Dhara, The Phalanx, The Azure F.O.G. The Twisted Thistle,
members of The Order of Light, Lord Xander and
various brave independent adventurers, used their powerful skills to battle the
Crimson Fist. In this battle, despite very minor casualties, the adventurers
were able to strike a hard blow upon the Crimson Fist and his minions. Crimson
Fist and Tempest both had their spirits weakened, and the Liche who battles
alongside them met her permanent death.
After what seemed like a
hopeless retreat the adventurers were able to rally together and win back the
day by selflessly passing about the swords of Honor and Justice. Each and every
townsperson played an important role and there were even several quietly
shining stars.
This victory is doomed to be a
short one. The Crimson
Fist and his troops will certainly march again, and when they do it this reporter’s hope that we can all remember how we all came together to stand as one. We must remember that on that day we had the courage to stand together as one great pillar of light shining against the darkness around us.

Greetings citizens of Lindall!
I am a merchant and collector interested in precious metals, precious and semi-precious gems, and unusual stones. I have heard rumors that your pockets are overflowing with gemstones looking for a new home. I plan to be in Lindall on the Sunday morning following the May Forum, and I am interested in providing a new home for your gems, metals, and unusual stones. Of course, I will compensate you for this service!
Sincerely,
Randa Oliver, Jeweler and
Gemologist
To the People of Lindall:
It has apparently been the custom of this publication to provide space for the chartered guilds to express themselves, and I gratefully take advantage of the opportunity so provided.
By order of my superiors within the Royal Arcanum, and by further order of the duly responsible nobility, I have recently taken up duties as the Sorcerer of the Royal Arcanum at Lindall. It will, perhaps, come as no surprise that the Arcanum has decayed into a state of some disarray in the time since the post of Sorcerer was last meaningfully filled. The first order of business, therefore, is the re-establishment and re-organization of the Lindall Hall of the Arcanum. To that end, I encourage the people of Lindall to be willing to re-evaluate the Arcanum’s function, utility, value, and customary operation.
As a first step, the
In the absence of any accurate
rolls or records, we will begin anew with regard to membership and rank within
the Arcanum. This is no reflection upon the worth and service of those who
formerly held positions of responsibility. Members of the Arcanum are asked to
contact the Sorcerer at once if they have not already done so, and further
requested to communicate their former rank to the Sorcerer at that time.
Further, the Arcanum is currently seeking new members, and interested
individuals are invited to inquire. Prospective members should be able to read
and write, and possess an interest in learning Celestial Magic. Instruction in

The Royal Arcanum is currently engaged in the acquisition and creation of texts to comprise a general library of relevant information. The Arcanum is willing to purchase documents of any kind, including but not limited to scrolls, books, maps, and fragments of the same. The Arcanum is also interested in purchasing or commissioning written accounts of Lindall’s recent history, as well as written descriptions of Lindall’s flora and fauna, and indigenous and monster populations. Interested scribes are encouraged to contact the Sorcerer.
The Arcanum will perform general research on any topic. Inquiries are free, and charges are assessed only upon successful delivery of results. As research may take advantage of the collections of other Halls, immediate results may not be possible. Interested parties are asked to expect at least ten day’s time between request and result. Inquiries, inquirers identities, and information supplied by inquirers, will be kept confidential. The Arcanum reserves the right to utilize the information obtained by its research unless other arrangements are made in advance.
The Arcanum will arrange the sale, purchase, or trade of magical items, components, reagents, or catalysts, while maintaining the anonymity of seller and buyer. Parties interested in purchasing an item are encouraged to express their interest to the Sorcerer. All inquiries are completely confidential. Parties with items available for sale or trade should contact the Sorcerer. Again, the nature of the items and the identity of the seller will be kept in strictest confidence. All items will be identified, and guaranteed by the Arcanum to be as represented.
The Sorcerer, membership, and Circle of the Arcanum at Lindall are available by arrangement for the performance of Rituals. Because no two rituals are alike, each ritual and its cost must be arranged individually. Unless otherwise arranged, the Arcanum is not responsible for providing ritual components or subjects. As always, full confidentiality applies. The Arcanum assumes, but does not verify, the legality and authorization of all rituals. The Arcanum accepts no responsibility for the Ritual’s outcome. Inquiries are free and confidential.
Below, please find the most recent Arcanum prices, divided by member’s and outsider’s costs. Costs may be negotiable and barter may be accepted. Prices may be adjusted in coming weeks.
